Workplace Injuries & Work Injury Compensation

Walk-in

Cuts, sprains, crush injuries, eye injuries and other injuries at work are assessed and treated at the clinic. The doctor records what happened and what was found, so the records can be used for a work injury compensation claim if one is made.

Work injury compensation claims are handled by the employer, the insurer and the Ministry of Manpower. We provide accurate medical records and reports, and follow-up to support a safe return to work. Medical leave is given only when the doctor finds it medically needed, and we cannot promise that an insurer will pay.

  • Assessment and treatment of injuries at work
  • Wound care, stitches, splints and dressings
  • X-rays arranged with partner providers when needed
  • Clear records of the injury, treatment and any medical leave
  • Follow-up reviews and a plan for return to work, including light duties where suitable
  • Medical reports for work injury compensation claims

How it works

  1. Treatment

The doctor examines the injury and treats it, or refers you to hospital if needed.

  2. Records

How the injury happened, the findings, the treatment and any medical leave or light duties are recorded.

  3. Follow-up

Reviews are booked until you are fit to return to your usual work, and reports are prepared when requested.

Corporate Accounts, Vaccination & Screening Sessions

By appointment

Companies can set up an account so staff can be seen at the clinic for illness and injuries, with the scope of care, authorisation and billing agreed in writing.

We can also run dedicated vaccination and health screening sessions for staff, at the clinic or at your workplace. These sessions are staffed separately from the walk-in clinic, and abnormal results are followed up with each person directly and confidentially.

  • Company accounts for staff consultations and treatment
  • Agreed scope of care, authorisation and billing
  • Flu and other vaccination sessions for staff
  • Group health screening sessions
  • Confidential follow-up of each person's results

Occupational Health Checks & Hearing Tests

By appointment

Workers exposed to certain hazards at work, such as excessive noise or some chemicals, may need regular medical examinations under the Workplace Safety and Health regulations. Some of these must be done by a Designated Workplace Doctor.

We arrange these checks, including hearing tests (audiometry), with partner providers and accredited doctors who meet the requirements for each type of examination. Results are explained to each worker, and the doctor follows up on any abnormal findings.

  • Hearing tests (audiometry) for noise-exposed workers
  • Statutory medical examinations for other workplace hazards
  • Arranged with partner providers and Designated Workplace Doctors where required
  • Explanation and follow-up of abnormal results

Shift Work, Fatigue & Sleep Health

By appointment

Night and rotating shifts can affect sleep, alertness, weight, blood sugar and blood pressure. The doctor looks at your sleep, work pattern and health, checks for problems such as sleep apnoea, and arranges tests where needed.

You get practical advice on sleep, meals, caffeine and exercise around your shifts, and follow-up for any conditions found. Programmes can also be arranged for groups of staff through an employer. Your medical information stays confidential, and the doctor's advice on fitness to work is based on your health, not on what an employer wants to hear.

  • Assessment of tiredness, sleep and shift pattern
  • Checks for sleep apnoea and other causes of sleepiness
  • Weight, blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol checks
  • Advice on sleep, meals and exercise around shifts
  • Programmes for groups of staff through an employer

Medical Reports & Fitness-for-Duty Reviews

By appointment

A doctor can prepare a medical report on your condition, treatment and progress, such as for an employer, insurer or lawyer. Reports are based on your records and an examination, and the report fee is explained before it is written.

Fitness-for-duty reviews look at whether you can safely return to work or do a particular job after an illness or injury, and whether adjustments such as light duties would help. Medicals and forms for schools, universities and overseas study are also done by appointment; please bring the required forms and check any specific tests needed.

  • Medical reports for employers, insurers and lawyers
  • Fitness-for-duty and return-to-work reviews
  • Advice on light duties and work adjustments
  • School, university and overseas-study medicals and forms
  • Referral to a specialist when a specialist opinion is needed

Go to A&E or call 995 instead if

  • There is a head injury with loss of consciousness, vomiting, drowsiness or confusion
  • Bleeding does not stop after 10 minutes of firm pressure
  • There may be a broken bone, or a limb is numb, cold or cannot move
  • There is a chemical splash or a sharp or high-speed object in the eye
  • It is an electrical injury, a large or deep burn, or smoke or fumes were breathed in
