Cuts, Lacerations & Stitches
A doctor examines the cut, checks for damage underneath and cleans it thoroughly before closing it. The method depends on where the wound is, how deep it is and how much tension it is under.
Our Sengkang clinic is open 24 hours, so a cut can be seen the same day or night it happens. Wounds are best closed early, so come in as soon as you can.
- Stitches (sutures) for cuts and lacerations
- Skin glue or adhesive strips for suitable small wounds
- Staples for selected scalp wounds
- Layered closure for selected deeper wounds
- Wound dressing and review
How it works
Assessment
The doctor asks how it happened, examines the wound and checks feeling, movement and blood flow beyond it.
Cleaning and numbing
The wound is cleaned and irrigated. A local anaesthetic numbs the area before any stitches.
Closure
Stitches, skin glue, adhesive strips or staples, chosen for the wound, then a dressing.
Aftercare
You leave with wound-care instructions and a date for review or stitch removal.
